I have just started using the Diva Cup and I’m not sure how I feel about it. I was so excited to start using it when I recently learned how toxic our feminine products are in Kelly Brogan’s new book, A Mind of Your Own. I have known for awhile how many toxic chemicals are in feminine products, but I didn’t realize how they affect mental health. I recently read the article, Women Beware: Most Feminine Hygiene Products Contain Toxic Ingredients by Dr. Mercola on all the toxic chemicals in Tampons and Pads. This really made me think maybe it’s time to switch to a more natural solution.
I started using the Diva Cup and honestly it’s the strangest experience ever! When you’ve been using tampons after so many years and then you have to use a latex cup it’s causes a little anxiety.
I remember just a few days ago when I first started using it and when I went to go grab it, it wasn’t there. Truly a very scary thought, I wondered “Omg there must be something wrong with me, this shouldn’t be happening!” Fortunately I typed into google what to do when this happens and plenty of other women have experienced this. I finally realized I didn’t read the directions as thorough as I should of.
The great thing about using the Diva Cup is that I don’t have any cramps! Honestly this is seriously amazing considering most of my periods are unbearable! I can’t get over how you can leave it in for twelve hours and don’t have to worry about it because it won’t cause toxic shock syndrome. Taking it out has been hard, but luckily there are Youtube videos to help you out, and they most certainly did! Sometimes I find it uncomfortable, but I guess it may just takes some getting used to. I don’t see myself going back to using tampons anytime soon because they really are a nightmare and add up so quickly!
I hope this inspires other women to try Diva Cup, it’s a much cleaner and healthier option plus saves so much money!
